Speed of Licensing services in East Java Equivalent to Singapore

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta – Local government of East Java province integrated permit services which previously were served by 17 institutions or units of the regional working unit (SKPD) into a single office.

“Today, it’s not time of back-and-forth to obtaining permits. Just go to one office and it’s all done. The service standard is 17 days," said the Governor of East Java, Soekarwo, after launching one stop licensing services at Integrated Licensing Service Building (P2T) on Jl. Pahlawan 116, Surabaya, on Wednesday (6 / 1).

17 days time for licensing services is the standard of fastest licensing conducted in Singapore. "This is the only one in Indonesia and equal to Singapore," he added.

Licensing services that can be done through P2T among others permit from East Java Transportation Division which includes ferry operating license, permit for ship cargo expedition, and maintenance of transportation services. In addition, there is also licensing services from Health Division which includes addition of nurses, pharmacists and others.

Permits from Division of Industry and Trade include corporate principles license, business industry license, and industrial expansion. "Creative industry ranging from filming or patents and others can also be done here," said Soekarwo.

For permits that require approval from central government, P2T automatically provides direct assistance to Jakarta, so that 17 days of service standard can be met.

For the initial stage, licensing process in P2T office is still done manually with applicants coming to P2T office. In the future, licensing will be done on-line so that applicants no longer need to go to the office.
